Goa: Beaches . Nightlife

Beaches . Nightlife

Two coasts,
one state.

About Goa

North Goa is markets, beach shacks and long evenings. South Goa is wide, quiet sand and slow mornings. Most good Goa trips use both, with a couple of days inland for the spice plantations and the old Portuguese quarters of Panjim.

Things to do

Worth building
the days around.

Split your stay

Two or three nights north for the energy, then move south for the quiet. It makes Goa feel like two trips.

Walk Fontainhas

Panjim's Latin quarter is best on foot in the morning, before the heat and with the bakeries still open.

Take a backwater boat

The Sal and Chapora rivers run quiet at dusk, with kingfishers and a completely different view of the coast.

Book a beach shack table

The good ones fill by seven. Ask your coordinator to reserve rather than walking the sand looking for space.

Before you go

Goa
questions.

North for markets, nightlife and a livelier beach scene. South for space, calm water and resort stays. A split itinerary covers both.

It is the easiest way to move around, but private cars with a driver are included in most packages if you would rather not ride.

Not at all, if you want green hills and low rates. Some water sports and shacks close, so the itinerary shifts inland.
