About Rajasthan
Rajasthan is India at its most theatrical. Jaipur brings the pink city and its bazaars, Jodhpur the blue lanes below Mehrangarh, Udaipur the lake palaces at dusk. Distances are long, but the drives are part of the experience.
Highlights

remember most.

- Mehrangarh above the blue city

Things to do
Worth building
the days around.
Start Amber Fort at opening
The first hour has the light on the Sheesh Mahal and none of the mid-morning queue.
Climb Mehrangarh at golden hour
The ramparts look straight down over Jodhpur's blue houses. Stay for the walk back through the old town.
Take the Pichola sunset boat
Forty minutes on the water gives you City Palace, Jag Mandir and the Aravalli ridge in one sweep.
Sleep in the desert
A night at a Sam or Khuri camp outside Jaisalmer, with dunes, folk music and a properly dark sky.
Before you go
Rajasthan
questions.
Three is the sweet spot for a week. Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur give you forts, the blue city and the lakes without living on the road.
In Rajasthan the property is part of the destination. Converted havelis and palace hotels are one of the few upgrades that genuinely changes the trip.
Yes. Forts, the elephants at Amber, puppet shows and desert camps all land well with families. Drive times are the only thing to plan around.
