Lakshadweep: Coral Islands . Escape

Coral Islands . Escape

A lagoon with
almost nobody in it.

About Lakshadweep

Lakshadweep is deliberately small. Only a handful of islands accept visitors, permits are limited, and the result is lagoon water you can have largely to yourself. Agatti, Bangaram and Kadmat anchor most itineraries, with diving and kayaking filling the days.

Highlights

What people
remember most.

  • Agatti's lagoon on the flight approach
  • Bangaram island stay
  • Reef diving off Kadmat
  • Kayaking the inner lagoon
  • Night sky with no light pollution

Things to do

Worth building
the days around.

Dive the outer reef

Visibility regularly runs past 30 metres. Kadmat and Agatti both have certified dive centres.

Kayak at first light

The lagoon is glass before eight in the morning, which is also the best window for spotting rays.

Take an island hop

Boat transfers between Agatti, Bangaram and Thinnakara turn a single stay into a small archipelago tour.

Watch the stars

There is almost no artificial light here. On a clear night the Milky Way is visible from the beach.

Before you go

Lakshadweep
questions.

Yes. Every visitor needs an entry permit, applied for in advance with ID documents. It is handled as part of the booking.

Flights run from Kochi to Agatti. Onward transfers to Bangaram and other islands are by boat or helicopter depending on the season.

Only on Bangaram. The other inhabited islands are dry, which is worth knowing when choosing where to stay.
